Tools and Technologies
Beginner Division
If you’re new to coding, start with block‑based tools like Scratch or MIT App Inventor to build simple health‑focused apps. If you’ve done a bit of coding already, try Python (with libraries like Streamlit or Tkinter) or Java, or create a responsive website using HTML & CSS—no backend required.
Advanced Division
With more experience under your belt, feel free to leverage any technology that brings your healthcare idea to life. Recommended tools include:
-
Front‑end frameworks: React, Angular, or Vue.js
-
Back‑end frameworks: Node.js/Express, Django, or Flask
-
Databases: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Firebase
-
APIs & integrations: FHIR‑compliant health APIs, Twilio for SMS alerts, or Stripe for payment processing
-
AI/ML: TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit‑learn for predictive models (e.g., symptom checkers)
-
Cloud & DevOps: AWS, GCP, or Azure for hosting; Docker & Kubernetes for containerization
Inspiration
Think about a health challenge in your school, community, or beyond—mental wellness, accessibility, preventive care, or telemedicine—and design a tech solution to tackle it.
